7 Simple steps to staying safe |
Crime Stoppers have produced 7 simple steps to staying safe over Christmas and New Year….below are the first 3 steps for you to bear in mind over the festive period…..you will help yourself to have a great time whilst out and about. 1. Safety in numbersAlways stay within a group when possible. By remaining close to the people you trust and know well, you’ll reduce the risk of being targeted by people who are up to no good and could be out to take advantage. 2. Arrange a lift or get taxis if you canWhen travelling at night, if you can, get a lift with someone you trust. Failing that, if you can afford it, it's best to book a taxi - it’s worth that little extra expense to ride in a comfortable cab and get home safely. If travelling by bus, it’s best to sit closer to the exit and you're within sight of the bus driver should there be a problem. 3. Always book your taxiWhen you book a licensed mini-cab or taxi, you know it is reputable and reliable. Don’t be tempted to get into an unlicensed cab for a quicker ride home. The risks, especially to unaccompanied women, are far too high.
……if you see anything suspicious, you can call Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or contact the Police on 101
